Let me begin by making an amendment to my last “Chatter.” In relation to the Ten Cent deposit containers for Peachy Place, if you are cashing in the containers yourself please DO NOT hand the money to Ian Nitschke or Mick Artis. Instead please place any money in an envelope marked “Ten Cent Deposit Container Money – Peachy Place” and that can be forwarded to the treasurer.
Also I mentioned that the grant we are seeking for the security camera system was coming from the Federal Government. Rather it is coming from a State Government grant via the office of Zoe Bettison MP.
Pastor Greg has outlined the situation with the recent meeting held between himself, myself and the Pastoral Assistants, looking at our return to gathering together for worship again in the future. I would refer you to that letter for guidance in that regard.
Assistant Bishop For Missions, Stephen Schultz has also contacted Pastor and myself about our scheduled meetings on July 12th. We will inform you if and how that will look in due course.
I would however, encourage everyone to focus on the things that we CAN do (limited as they may be), rather than on what we are unable to do. I think we will be in a better frame of mind and spirit if we do that.
Also be guided by the words of St. Paul from Romans 12:9-10 where he instructs us to Love each other with genuine love, by preferring the needs (likes and dislikes) of others over and above those of our own.
In Philippians 2:1-4 and following, he also offers some “If’s,” – If there is any encouragement, if any comfort from the love of Jesus, if there is fellowship with the Holy Spirit, if there is any tenderness and compassion, complete the Joy by being like-minded having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.  Work together in love. Don’t be selfish. Don’t try to impress others. Think of others better than yourselves.  Don’t look out just for your own interests, but take an interest in others also. The key is in verse 1 – being “in,” “united with,” or “belonging to” Christ.  This is not just some intellectual exercise to be in our thinking, but rather in our actions also.
Yes once again, we are all in this together In Christ. Please be praying for those of us in leadership positions – Bishops, Pastors, Church Chairpersons, Pastoral Assistants and Church Council Members...  There are decisions yet to be made that may not be easy. Things may not return to the way they were before all of this started and we all may need to be prepared to accept some changes. That may be difficult for us to deal with, but let us rely on our Lord and His wisdom to lead us and be at our side through it all.

May God richly bless and comfort you during the days ahead.

“Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross.” – Philippians 2:5-8 (NIV)
